Using @answerstage to curate live Q&A with many participants. We designed the service more for one "featured guest" but it can work for multiple participants too — or at least that's what we're testing right now. (This notice is primarily for people in #brandchat and those who discover the live blog post).

It's amazing that one song has turned into a multi-dimensional brand. Who'd have thought that a beach bum with a lost shaker of salt could create a resort? On the other hand, it's the perfect example of a lifestyle brand that can be translated into many different types of experiences/products. Once your brand has a clear personality, brand extension is much easier.

One example: The Edie Bauer edition of the Ford Explorer was a misfire in my opinion. Ford and SUV buyers are a subset of Edie Bauer customers so it likely didn't resonate with their target demographic. In fact, it probably turned off some customers who saw Edie Bauer as higher end or more eco-friendly.
